MOSCOW, Dec 31 (Reuters) – Russia exam-fired all around 10 new Tsirkon (Zircon) hypersonic cruise missiles from a frigate and two extra from a submarine, Interfax information company mentioned on Friday citing northern fleet.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has lauded the weapon as element of a new era of unrivalled arms methods.
Putin has named a missile exam, conducted very last 7 days, “a big occasion in the country’s existence”, incorporating that this was “a substantial phase” in increasing Russia’s defence capabilities.
Some Western industry experts have questioned how superior Russia’s new generation of weapons is, whilst recognising that the blend of pace, manoeuvrability and altitude of hypersonic missiles will make them complicated to track and intercept.
Putin declared an array of new hypersonic weapons in 2018 in just one of his most bellicose speeches in a long time, indicating they could hit almost any issue in the world and evade a U.S.-created missile shield.
