RI price range retains Compact Small business Improvement Fund

The state spending budget proposed by Gov. Dan McKee last 7 days sustains Rhode Island’s extended-debated company incentives and expands a single program that his predecessor Gina Raimondo when attacked. 

The $42-million Little Company Development Fund, accredited by lawmakers in 2019 over Raimondo administration objections, gives tax credits to expense groups that set cash into regional firms.

A series of revisions to the program in McKee’s finances would give the state Commerce Company higher power to determine who has experienced for the tax credits, a main grievance of the economic development company beneath Raimondo.
