US telecoms huge AT&T is to spin off its media assets like Video game of Thrones maker HBO in a $43bn deal with way of living Television company Discovery.

The deal will build a standalone enterprise which will also include AT&T’s Warner Bros movie studios – maker of the Batman and Harry Potter franchises – and CNN – to compete in the worldwide streaming marketplace versus the likes of Netflix.

They will be blended in a single company with Discovery’s steady of house, cooking, science and mother nature exhibits and sport channel Eurosport.

The offer will see AT&T acquire $43bn by way of money and credit card debt when its shareholders will conclusion up owning inventory representing 71% of the new company, which will be led by Discovery boss David Zaslav.

It will compete with the likes of Netflix, Apple, Amazon, Disney and Comcast – which is the US proprietor of Sky News father or mother organization Sky.
