Black Cafe Week invites Dallasites to aid Black-owned companies

Mark down March 12-21 as a “celebration of flavors,” suggests Houstonian Derek Robinson. He’s the co-founder of a nationwide party named Black Restaurant 7 days, and eight dining places in Dallas are participating.

Black Restaurant Week’s mission is to highlight African, African American and Caribbean cuisine and to shine a light on the variety of flavors out there nationwide.

“Food is exciting, and that is what we do with Black Cafe 7 days,” Robinson says. “We want people to extend their palates.”

It’s related in name to DFW Cafe 7 days and to North Texas Black Restaurant 7 days, though none of those people are affiliated.

Black Cafe 7 days also differs in scope from DFW Restaurant 7 days, which encourages North Texans to take in from a established menu, with a part of proceeds going to a nonprofit.
